Geography and Location

Located on Vancouver Island, View Royal is a municipality situated approximately 11 kilometers northwest of Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia, Canada. The municipality covers an area of 5.41 square kilometers and has a population of around 14,500 residents as per the 2016 census.

History

The region was initially inhabited by the Lekwungen people before European settlement began casinoviewroyal.ca in the mid-19th century. In 1867, the area was incorporated into Victoria’s municipal limits but separated from it in 1988 to become a distinct municipality. View Royal has since maintained its independence while maintaining close ties with the neighboring city of Victoria.

Government and Politics

View Royal is governed by an elected council consisting of seven members who are responsible for implementing policies, setting budgets, and overseeing community programs. The Council appoints a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to manage day-to-day operations and provide administrative support. As part of regional governance structures, View Royal participates in the Capital Regional District (CRD), which provides shared services and coordinates intergovernmental planning.
